There is no ATAR requirement for this course, however there are other entry requirements:
- Year 12 graduates: successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent.
- Non-Year 12 students: completion of post-secondary studies (e.g. Cert III) or at least 6 months’ work experience and able to provide evidence of academic and English language requirements.

Yes, you will need to provide a transcript for courses undertaken at another training provider. Where eligible, credit transfers can be applied to any course that fits the criteria.

Upon successful completion of all eight units, you’ll receive a Diploma of Sport and Business.
Graduate Roles
The Perth Scorchers and WA Cricket will offer a minimum of two graduate roles to students enrolled in the Diploma of Sport and Business. These roles will be filled through a formal application and interview process, exclusive to students in the course.

Yes! This course offers up to one year of credit towards select Murdoch University undergraduate degrees, including a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science, and a Bachelor of Business, making it easier than ever to further shape your future in sport. Upon completion of the Diploma of Sport and Business, you may be eligible for further study at other education providers through credit transfer into appropriate courses.
To study at the Perth Scorchers Institute of Sport and Business, you’ll need:
- A laptop
- Access to the internet (Outside of class hours)
- Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
Approximately 15 hours of classroom studies per week, usually over two days, with the requirement to do approximately one day of additional study per week in your own time (involving online classes and self-directed study). Your work integrated learning hours will be completed outside of class and self-directed learning hours. Hours for work integrated learning will vary across the year-long diploma depending on availability of placements and time of year.
Face-to-face classes will be delivered at the WACA Ground, with opportunities to access the Scorchers’ brand-new high-performance facilities. Occasional specialty classes may be delivered at Murdoch University’s South Street Campus.
Yes, you’ll receive 100 hours of practical, work-integrated learning within the Perth Scorchers and WA Cricket organisation, as well as its partner network. This may include exposure to areas such as WA Cricket’s high-performance program, fan engagement, membership operations, community outreach, marketing and media communications, events, clinics, and more. You’ll also have opportunities to engage with WA Cricket staff, coaches, and players through guest presentations and networking events.
Absolutely! If you’re a cricketer – or simply looking to improve your cricket skills – you’ll have the option to take an elective unit that offers specialist coaching in the same high-performance facilities used by the Perth Scorchers and WA Cricket teams. It’s a unique opportunity to build your skills in a professional sporting environment while studying at the Perth Scorchers Institute of Sport and Business.
